The Kujawsko-Pomorska Digital Library (Kujawsko-Pomorska Biblioteka Cyfrowa) has opened access to a first batch of current publications using the terms of the Creative Commons licenses. The Library Coordinator began to reach out to authors on the subject of this simple and user-friendly method of publishing and received the permission from several authors and publishers to provide access to 16 documents, mainly post-print and pre-print articles. Conversations with authors are continuing, also with respect to books, and perhaps, with the publishers??? consent, this form of publishing will find wider acceptance. It is worth mentioning that pre-prints can be made available always on the terms defined by the author himself, regardless of whether they were submitted for printing or not. Below are examples of post-print articles by Professor Andrzej Majdowski (curator of historic monuments) from the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Torun.

The rights field of the bibliographic record contains information about the version of the license that was applied and a link to the actual text of the license.

The usage of the rights field in the Dublin Core metadata for digital objects remains to be standardized in Poland. Many libraries enter the name of their library in this field arguing that they have a right to do so since the item (the physical object, as well as, the digital item reproduced from it for the digital library) is the property of the library. This is particularly true in the case of older documents, as well as, the institution's own publications. It seems that there is an urgent need for instructions that would organize these documents correctly and that would clearly indicate what information should be entered by librarians in the rights field.
